S. Kudarat mayor substitutes grandpa’s candidacy for House seat

TACURONG CITY – A lady town mayor in Sultan Kudarat has substituted the candidacy of her grandfather, outgoing Sultan Kudarat Governor Pax Mangudadatu, for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Mayor Bai Rihan Mangudadatu Sakaluran of Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat is sure to capture the House seat representing Sultan Kudarat’s first district because she is running unopposed in next year’s elections.

On Thursday--the last day for withdrawal, transfer, and substitution those who filed certificates of candidacy for various positions--the 28-year old Sakaluran replaced the candidacy of her grandfather, outgoing Gov. Pax Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat.

Gov. Pax Mangudadatu has reportedly opted to retire from politics. His son, incumbent Rep. Suharto Mangudadatu, has filed his gubernatorial candidacy earlier on.

“I just filed my candidacy for representative of the 1st District of Sultan Kudarat province with my Daddy, Governor Sultan Pax S. Magudadatu,” the mayor posted in her Facebook page.

“With all the love, trust and support of the people of Sultan Kudarat to our family especially to Governor Datu Pax Mangudadatu, Congressman Suharto Mangudadatu and Vice Governor Raden C. Sakaluran, I am running unopposed for the 1st district of Sultan Kudarat,” she added. (PNA)
