SEC office to strengthen biz climate in BCD

BACOLOD CITY, Nov. 29 (PIA) -- The recent launching of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) extension office in Bacolod City is seen to boost the city’s business climate.

SEC chairperson Emilio Aquino, who led the inauguration, said they have seen the progress of Bacolod and Negros Occidental, “which is a good indicator of the development of the city and the potential of people who are considering to put up a business.”

The SEC is mandated to supervise all corporations, partnerships or associations that are grantees of primary franchises and/or a license or permit issued by the government.

There are a total of 10,000 registrations in Negros that include 7,000 from Bacolod, according to Aquino.

The establishment of SEC in Bacolod was created by virtue of Republic Act No. 10785, penned by then Congressman and current Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

“We have a fast-growing economy and all the big players are here,” Mayor Leonardia expressed.

The city mayor, who considered the new SEC office as a “game changer”, reiterated that  “it will facilitate and even accelerate what we are hoping and dreaming for Bacolod.”

Meanwhile, Gerardo del Rosario, director of SEC Company Registration and Monitoring Department earlier thanked Leonardia as this is the lone SEC local office in the country established by legislation.

The SEC Bacolod extension office, which is the ninth SEC office in the country, is located along Hernaez St. corner Jocson St., Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City. (LTP/LML-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
