DENR’s “Binoni Pusaka” coffee table book features 5 Zanorte protected areas

DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte, March 29 (PIA) - - The province’s five environment protected areas take spotlight in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-9’s newly published coffee table book “Binoni Pusaka.”

"Binoni Pusaka" is a Subanen word that means hidden treasure associated with the five environmental treasures of Zamboanga del Norte province namely: the Murcielagos Island Protected Landscape and Seascape, Jose Rizal Memorial Protected Landscape,  Aliguay Island Protected Landscape and Seascape, Selinog Island Protected Landscape and Seascape and Siocon Resource Reserve.

PENRO Salahuddin Kaing said the book presents the exquisite vista and notable benefits the province humbly offers  specifically its protected areas including the caves and wetlands which are potential for eco-tourism development.

“With the will, power and concerted efforts of the DENR, communities and various stakeholders, these areas are well managed, protected and conserved,” he noted.

Kaing also stressed the Department’s commitment to continue protecting the areas “with strong determination and unwavering principles.”

“Because these are Zamboanga del Norte’s hidden treasures that will soon be cherished and enthralled by both foreign and local sightseers,” he said.

He also lauded and expressed his gratitude to the team behind the successful completion of the coffee table book with special mention to the University of the Philippines-Marine Science Institute, Jose Rizal Memorial State University, Zamboanga Peninsula Cavers Association, Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte and Regional Public Affairs Office of DENR-9.
