3 drug suspects fall in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY -- Three drug suspects, two apprehended in a checkpoint, led to the seizure of PHP10,000 worth of shabu, a firearm, and eventual arrest of the drug supplier in Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao on Friday.

In a report, Maj. Alexander Butuan, acting town police chief, identified those arrested as Harriking Kimpo Amat, 21; and Juhari Pandora Edzlama, 22; both of Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, and Abdulsalam Pakan Indag, 41, of Barangay Brar, Datu Anggal Midtimbang town.

Amat and Edzlama were collared at a police checkpoint in Barangay Brar at 10:55 a.m. Seized from them were four sachets of suspected shabu and a .22-caliber pistol with eight live ammunition.

“The two suspects, upon seeing the checkpoint, dropped the illegal stuff along the roadside but were seen at plain view by the policemen,” Butuan said in his report.

Police follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of Indag, the alleged illegal drug supplier, at his house in Brar.

Butuan said Datu Ugalingan Pagayao, Barangay Brar chairman, witnessed the conduct of the police operation at the house of Indag.

The three suspects are detained at the Datu Anggal Midtimbang police lockup and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 ( Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition). (PNA)
