Bainto named DOJ deputy spokesperson

MANILA -- Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra designated Assistant Secretary Neal Vincent M. Bainto as deputy spokesperson of the Department of Justice.

In Department Order 491, dated September 16, Guevarra said Bainto "will be tasked to assist the spokesperson in informing the public on matters of concern and to assume the tasks and duties of the spokesperson in his absence".

Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete is presently the DOJ's spokesperson.

Perete and Bainto joined the DOJ last July along with DIWA partylist Rep. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar and Adrian Sugay.

They were appointed to the department following the courtesy resignations of Undersecretaries Raymund Mecate, Erickson Balmes, and Reynante Orceo as well as Assistant Secretary Juvy Manwong, who served in the agency during the term of former secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II. (PNA)
