CALABARZON GAD Council highlights awards at 8th RGADC Convention

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite Sep. 16 (PIA) – The 8thRegional Gender and Development Council (RGADC) Convention recently highlighted the RGADC- Calabarzon’s initiatives and efforts in the implementation of activities for GAD development that brought several awards of recognition for the council. 
 
These awards include the RGADC Trailblazer Award for being one of the first RGADCs to reorganize after the issuance of the Phil Commission on Women (PCW)-NEDA Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2016-01; the Outstanding Secretariat Award (based on the survey among members); and the Certificate of Recognition for being one of the pioneer partners of PCW (for RGADCs with partnership agreements with PCW) and the Women Lead Award for having women members comprising 40 percent of the total RDC members.
 
Stakeholders and GAD advocates not just from the region but also included, for the first time, the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) offices from other regions participated in the event.
 
“In our 8th year, we are introducing something new as we now open our activity to other RGADC mechanisms all over the country to promote learning and sharing of activities on gender development,” special guest, NEDA Region IV-A (Calabarzon) Director and concurrent Calabarzon RGADC Chairperson, Luis G. Banua, disclosed to Cavite media.
 
Dir. Banua added that Calabarzon RGADC levels up its linkages to the national level "for sharing of best practices and encourage networking for future GAD collaborations” to further advance the level of gender mainstreaming through continuous, new and needs-based interventions.
 
Aside from going national, the Calabarzon RGADC has also incorporated breakout sessions to provide avenue for more meaningful discussions, on emerging issues and concerns of the different institutions thus resulting to their outstanding performance.
 
The event brought forth discussions on a wide-range of topics such as the emerging issues on the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Bill, malnutrition, GAD agenda setting PCW Memorandum Circular 2019-01 on the submission of 2020 GAD Plan and Budget and the enhanced Gender responsive LGU assessment tool.
