Mendiola, Global Makati draw PFL clash

LIPA CITY, Batangas -- Mendiola and Global Makati finished their Philippines Football League (PFL) showdown tied, 1-1, as the former forced the draw at the Aboitiz Pitch here on Saturday night.

 Paolo Salenga thought he finally gave Global Makati only its second win of the season after drilling in a 37th minute penalty to put his club up, 1-0, even as his teammates' defense kept Mendiola at bay.

 However, Nimrod Balabat found a wide-open goal mouth after Jun Tripulca misread Ash Flores' move, and Balabat converted the 85th minute equalizer off the Flores feed.

 Mendiola is now in solo fifth place with 12 points, while Global Makati moved up to six points with the stalemate. (PNA)
