SSS-Zambo to file charges vs delinquent employers, private firms

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct 16 (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) will be filing appropriate charges in court against delinquent employers and business establishments in the city, as the SSS condonation program for penalties has already lapsed, said an SSS senior official.

“The condonation (program) has already lapsed last September 6. We are now in the process of checking delinquent employers who have not availed of the condonation to settle their remittances. We will then file cases against them in court,” said SSS Mindanao West Division Vice President Atty. Rodrigo Filoteo.

Prior to the September 6 deadline, Filoteo has been constantly appealing to the delinquent employers to settle their accounts through the condonation program. Under this, penalties for delinquent contributions were waived.

In addition, the SSS will implement its Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) program in Zamboanga City, a drive to go after delinquent employers. Filoteo said this will probably be held before the year ends, or within the first quarter of 2020.

On Thursday (October 10), 2 outstanding employers and a local radio station were given special citations by the SSS as “Balikat ng Bayan”. These are LM Metro Hotel of Zamboanga City, Claret School of Lamitan and DXVP Radio Verdadero. (NBE/DIS/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
