CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Dec. 11 (PIA) – At least 693 flood-affected families at barangays Fugu and Batong Labang in this city have benefitted from the Isabela Provincial Cooperative Development Council (IPCDC) and Isabela Provincial Youth Cooperative Development Council (IPCYDC) Operation Koop Bayanihan through relief operations.

Lilia Castillo, provincial cooperative development officer and vice chairman of the IPCDC said the relief operations aimed to give immediate need to the flood-affected families in the City of Ilagan as large number of Ilagueños were greatly affected by the recent flooding brought by northeast monsoon rains in the province.

Castillo said in times of calamity, it is necessary to show the united efforts of cooperatives to help the needy people especially those people who are severely affected by calamities.

“The real road of compassion, that is, giving, helping, and providing assistance and community service to those in need, is a road that you can beset as your life's purpose,” Castillo said.

The Provincial Cooperative Development Office served as area of convergence of donations and volunteers who repacked the relief goods donated by various cooperatives in the province.

Castillo has expressed thanks to the cooperative sector in the province for heeding the call of IPCDC and IPYCDC to donate food items and cash for the flood-affected families. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
