Cagayan cops vow to abide by 'no-take' policy
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Feb. 21 (PIA) - - The chiefs-of-police and unit heads of Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO) have signed the covenant promising to abide by the “no-take” policy of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Provincial Director Police Colonel Ariel N. Quilang said the policy of PNP chief, Gen. Archie Gamboa was intended to curb illegal gambling activities nationwide but in his area of jurisdiction, he opted to include eliminating illegal logging which is one of his priority campaigns and the eradication of illegal drugs.
In the covenant, police officials of any rank are prohibited from engaging, directly or indirectly, in all illegal forms of sources and also not allowed to accept any gift, money, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person or entity directly or indirectly engaged in illegal gambling, illegal logging, illegal drugs and other illegal activities.
“We should not solicit or accept any gift in any form in the course of our official duties or given by reason of our office,” Quilang said.
He warned police officials that anyone who will violate the policy will not only be relieved from their posts but they will also face administrative cases.
Quilang also urged the public to help monitor the activities of the police officials and their subordinates in the communities and report immediately those who have engaged, directly or indirectly, in any illegal activities, especially if they are receiving monetary considerations or gifts in exchange of favors for other party’s personal interest.
He also ordered all chiefs-of-police to exert effort to eliminate gambling, logging, illegal drug activities and other problems in their respective areas of responsibility. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
