Food and medicine passes to be implemented on April 7

DAVAO CITY April 3 (PIA)- The Davao City Police Office will implement the checking of food and medicine passes on April 7, 2020 despite the imposition of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Davao City on April 4, 2020.

Colonel Kirby John Kraft, director of the Davao City Police Office said he was ordered by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to extend the implementation of FMP until April 7 since the FMP is not 100 percent distributed to the communities.

He said the police will give time for the full distribution of the food and medicine passes before the implementation.

“Technically, the city residents can still buy food without the FM pass until April 6, because its implementation will be on Tuesday, April 7 unless the implementation is again ordered extended by the City Mayor.  Everything will now depend on the full distribution of the FMP,” Kraft said.

He said private vehicles including tricycle are allowed to travel under the ECQ provided the riders will be composed of the driver and a passenger.

Kraft said it is only in the entrance of wet markets where an FMP is checked thoroughly. He said bicycles and motorcycles are allowed to travel under an ECQ as long as there is only one rider.

“We have to stress social and physical distancing,” Kraft said.

He also warned against the spread of fake news which is punishable by law.

Kraft lauded the Cybercrime Response team of the DCPO with its accomplishments and crime solution.

“Most of them are silent workers, but they have great accomplishments in fighting cybercrime,” he said.  (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
