Navotas health workers get special risk allowance

CALOOCAN CITY, May 3 (PIA) -- The City Government of Navotas will grant a one-time special risk allowance (SRA) to all city public health workers who provide service amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

By virtue of City Ordinance No. 2020-20, public health workers in Navotas who are in direct contact with suspected, probable and positive COVID-19 patients will be provided with additional pay equivalent to a maximum of 25 percent of their monthly salary.

This is on top of their P500 daily hazard pay.

“We are grateful to our health workers for their professionalism and commitment to their duty. We want them to know our government and our people value their selfless sacrifice in this time of crisis,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Public health workers included in the ordinance are medical, allied medical, and other necessary personnel assigned in hospital and healthcare facilities of the city who work directly with COVID-19 related cases.

In accordance with Malacañang’s Administrative Order No. 28, the SRA shall be computed on a pro-rated basis depending on the number of days the public health workers physically reported for work.

“Our frontliners risk their lives to keep us safe. Let us help lighten their load by staying home and making sure we do not add to the statistics of COVID-19 cases in our city,” Tiangco said.

Navotas has 40 confirmed, 97 probable, and 119 suspected COVID-19 cases as of April 29, 4pm. (PIA NCR)
