Phil Air Force in Baguio launches forum on government programs
BAGUIO CITY, July 11(PIA) -- The Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Group 1 launched the “Usapang Pangkapayapaan, Usapang Pangkaunlaran Cordillera Edition,” a forum interview to support Executive Order 70 of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte or the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and promote other government programs in the region.
TOG 1 Commanding Officer LTC Oliver Casuncad said that the forum invites government agencies to talk about their programs and services for the public to be informed that government’s intention is to improve the lives of communities and fast track development.
“We are fortunate to be gathered as one nation to continue our collaboration as well as strengthen our efforts towards peace and development. Alam po nating lahat na mahalaga ang contribution ng bawat government agency para makamit natin ang matagal na nating pinapangarap na kapayapaan at kaunlaran,” Casuncad said during the initial forum last week.
With the challenges brought about by the corona virus pandemic, the forum is also used by the government agencies to share their programs, activities and other measures with regards to COVID-19 in the Cordillera region.
“With this and the existence of the problems on this pandemic and its effect, it is timely for us as one government to talk about the interventions and programs of the government to counter the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate its effect to the community to include the program in continuing the learning and education aspect of our children. This would also enlighten the audience on some arising issues in the community,” Casuncad added.
During the forum, Department of Education-CAR Information Officer Georaloy Palao-ay talked about the preparation for the incoming school year with the use of blended learning, the combination of face-to-face and distance learning which will really depend on the health situation of the different communities. He mentioned that the first priority for the learning plan is the health of personnel and all schools that must meet the required safety standards amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Ralph Kevin Brett of the Department of the Interior and Local Government–CAR shared that the DILG urged local government units to assist the public schools in their areas to adjust to the new normal as well as to utilize the Special Education Fund (SEF) to support the localization of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) of the DepEd.
Through Memorandum Circular 2020-096, DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año encouraged all local chief executives to immediately convene their respective LSBs to determine and allocate supplementary budget needs such as the SEF for the localized implementation of BE-LCP.
DOH-CAR Medical Officer Dr. Jennifer Joyce Pira, who joined the forum thru video conferencing, reiterated the strict compliance of the health protocols to ensure prevention of the COVID-19 virus. She said that the DOH is also leading the implementation of an information campaign against COVID-19 dubbed as "BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19.”
The campaign aims to encourage Filipino people to take active role in the fight against the common enemy which is the COVID-19. It promotes the active role of individuals in the fight against COVID-19 by practicing the following behaviors simplified into BIDA where B stands for Bawal walang mask; I - I-sanitize ang mga kamay, iwas-hawak sa mga bagay; D - Dumitansya ng isang metro, and A - Alamin ang totoong impormasyon.
