OPDS steps up local project monitoring amid pandemic

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 20 (PIA)--The Office of Project Development Services (OPDS) through the Unified Program Management Office (UPM)–Local Road Sector capacitated the Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs) of northern Mindanao through the virtual orientation dubbed as “Shaping LPMCs towards Greater Responsibilities: Embracing Monitoring Principles and Practices,” April 13-14.

This is in line with the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) thrust to reinforce the knowledge and understanding of the local government units (LGUs) in the project monitoring and implementation relevant to the roles and responsibilities as PMCs, especially in this time of new normal were approaches and efforts were redirected according to the application of the health and safety standards.

The two-day orientation covered various topics that helped shaped the identity of PMCs through in-depth understanding on the FY 2021 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) programs and implementation, SUBAYBAYAN- the monitoring platform for LGSF programs, Project Life Cycle for Local Infrastructure, and the basics of Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for roads, water, and vertical structures.

Moreover, the second day covered topics on the basics of procurement, contract management, common findings and recommendations on the local road, water supply and sanitation, and disaster risk reduction sectors, and how to prepare physical and financial reports.

The Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) of DILG, engineers, provincial engineers of Region 10, and 61 LGUs attended the said orientation. (DILG 10/PIA10)
