Monsoon trough to bring rains Saturday

MANILA – The monsoon trough will bring some rains across the country on Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. daily weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Visayas; the regions of Bicol, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao, and the Zamboanga Peninsula; the provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, and Mindoro; and the Kalayaan Islands, brought by the monsoon trough.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Winds across the country will be light to moderate, headed southwest to southeast, bringing slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

At 3 a.m., a tropical depression was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, about 1,005 km. west of Northern Luzon.

The tropical depression had maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 75 kph and was moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 25°C to 32°C; Baguio City, 16°C to 23°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu, 25°C to 30°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 24°C to 30°C; and Metro Davao, 24°C to 31°C. (PNA)
