Bulacan capitol suspends work due to flooding

MALOLOS CITY – Work in the Bulacan capitol here was suspended on Monday as parts of the province remain flooded due to rains spawned by the southwest monsoon over the weekend.

High tide and the release of water from Ipo and Bustos dams aggravated the situation.

Offices involved in the delivery of basic and health services, response to disasters and calamities, and other vital services shall continue with their operations.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), chaired by Governor Daniel Fernando, recommended the suspension.

“Other LGUs (local government units) and private employers are advised to exercise their authority and sound discretion whether or not to suspend work as situation in their area so warrants. Keep safe everyone,” the governor posted in his official social media account.

Based on the report of PDDRM Office, floodwater up to three meters are affecting 24 villages in Malolos City, 16 in Calumpit, 13 in Bocaue, 12 in Paombong, five each in Meycauayan City and Plaridel, and four in Guiguinto.

A total of 303 families or 1,076 individuals were temporarily housed in various evacuation centers. (PNA)
