Mobile vaccination gets closer to communities in Surigao Norte

BUTUAN CITY – The municipality of Claver in Surigao del Norte has brought Covid-19 vaccines closer to residents through its mobile vaccination program.

In a statement Friday, Mayor Georgia Gokiangkee said the town’s mobile vaccination drive would tackle the challenges that prevent people from receiving the life-saving shots.

The two-day vaccination activity, which ended Friday, took place in Hayanggabon, one of the biggest barangays in the town. The program will also benefit residents from the nearby barangays in Claver.

The mayor also emphasized the need to fast-track the vaccination program to reach and protect the constituents of the town, especially in the barangays.

“We also want to intensify and reach our seniors and other priority groups and encourage them to get vaccinated,” Gokiangkee said.

Vaccination in facilities is ongoing, apart from the mobile vaccination.

Food packs are provided to persons who are waiting for their turn to get vaccinated in these facilities, Gokiangkee said.

A total of PHP4,000 aid is also given to Claver's senior citizens who availed of the vaccination program. (PNA)
