PNP logs 274 new Covid-19 recoveries

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has posted 274 more recoveries on Tuesday, bringing the number of personnel who have recovered from the coronavirus to 37,265.

A total of 143 new Covid-19 cases were recorded on September 28, which brings the total tally to 39,474 since the start of the pandemic last year.

Total active cases were placed at 2,092 while another death was recorded, raising the number of PNP personnel who succumbed to Covid-19 to 117.

As of September 27, PNP personnel fully vaccinated against the coronavirus has reached 72.15 percent or equivalent to 160,702 personnel, while those who have received at least one shot are at 24.16 percent or 53,818 persons.

Only about 3.69 percent or 8,223 persons have yet to receive the vaccine.

Meantime, the policewoman who gave birth while undergoing quarantine at the Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility in Camp Crame has been released and given a clean bill of health.

PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz said in a message to reporters Monday the lady cop and her baby, who were both earlier found to be asymptomatic, were released on the 10th day of their quarantine on September 20.

On September 16, the baby’s mother, a patrolwoman assigned at the Manila Police District Station 9, went into labor and could no longer be transferred to a hospital because of the imminent childbirth.

Two other Covid-infected patients admitted at the facility, a physician and non-uniformed personnel, helped her give birth to a son. (PNA)
