Security measures for Undas in place in Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Oct. 31 (PIA) – Security measures are in place for the observance of Undas 2018.

Capiz Police Provincial Director Canilo Fuentes said the police were already deployed in various areas of public convergence to ensure a safe, orderly and secured observance the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2, respectively.

“As early as October 30, policemen were already deployed in various areas of public convergence, particularly at the cemeteries in preparation for the Undas,” he said.

He said all the police stations have their security plans to include the deployment of personnel to conduct mobile patrol from time for police visibility in areas of public convergence such as in cemeteries, churches, transport terminals.

Fuentes added that more than 700 policemen here will be deployed to secure the areas of public convergence.

“I have also directed the local chiefs of police to coordinate with their respective mayors to draft a policy for the Dos and Don’ts while in the cemetery,” he said.

Among those prohibited items are bladed or deadly weapons, gambling paraphernalia, intoxicating liquor, “karaoke,” and other unnecessary things.

“Gambling activities inside the cemeteries, parlor games or entertainment activities will not be tolerated as these might created problems to peace and order,” he said.

Fuentes said inspection and supervisory teams have been organized to be deployed in the first and second districts of Capiz to conduct monitoring and take immediate corrective measures should there be lapses on the deployment of the municipal or city police personnel.

Included in the areas for police deployment are airports, seaports, transport terminals and other vital installations.

Police Assistance Hubs will also be established at the public cemeteries, transport terminals, tourist destinations and places of convergence to assist the public.

The police in their respective areas will likewise be tapping the help of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, Barangay Tanods and other civic and non-government groups to ensure a smooth, secured, peaceful and orderly celebration of Undas 2018. (LTP/JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
