NFA rice now available in Laguna Bagsakan Center

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, January 31 (PIA) – The Laguna Agricultural Trading Center (LATC), also known as Bagsakan Center, made available the affordable National Food Authority (NFA) rice in their market starting last January 24.
Provincial Agriculturist Marlon Tobias explained the reason why they added NFA rice to the products offered in LATC.

“Para ma-encourage rin iyong mga tao na mamili rito, so pag bumibili sila ng bigas pwede na rin silang mamili ng gulay na mura.”
(To encourage people to visit the bagsakan center and so when they buy rice, they may also buy cheap vegetables)
The partner retailers of LATC will be selling NFA rice based on the Agency’s prescribed limit per day. The rice is sold for 27Php per kilo and each buyer may buy a maximum of five kilos.
“Kami ay naanyayahan ng Department of Agriculture dahil mayroon silang ganito na bagsakang tinatawag na dinadayo ng mga tao at kami ay tumugon bilang kami ay isang asosasyon ng magtitingiang bigas sa buong Pilipinas,” said Confederation of Grains Retailers Association of the Philippines, Inc (GRECON) Region 4 Director Elsa Alarva, one of LATC’s partner retailers.
(We were invited by the Department of Agriculture because they have a trading center such as this which people visit and we responded as a retailers association of rice in the Philippines.)
GRECON is a Non-Government Organization (NGAO) that currently serves as the Marketing Arm of NFA.
She said they have voluntarily came to the bagsakan center in service of the Filipinos.

“Sa kaunting kinikita namin ay sinasakripisyo po namin dahil ang amin pong policy ay makatulong sa lahat nang mamamayang Pilipino.”
(We make sacrifice with the little profit we obtain from selling NFA rice because it is our policy to help the Filipino people)
The NFA rice may now be purchased along with affordable vegetables and other crops and goods from the Bagsakan Center located at Brgy. Lamot II, Calauan from Mondays thru Fridays, 10 am to 2 pm. (Joy Gabrido, PIA4A)
