OBR global director to meet with GAD focal persons

ILOILO CITY, Jan. 31 (PIA) - Monique Wilson, the global director of One Billion Rising (OBR), will meet with Gender and Development (GAD) focal persons of various national government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations and academe from Western Visayas.

A public forum, initiated by Ugsad - Regional Gender Resource Center - WV, dubbed “Reflections on the Six Years of the 1 Billion Rising Campaign to End Gender-Based Violence,” is set on February 5 at the National Food Authority training room in Iloilo City.

According to Mary Barby Badayos-Jover, Ugsad GRC coordinator and director of the GAD program of the University of the Philippines – Visayas, Wilson will share her experience as the coordinator of the campaign.

She will talk about how countries, including the Philippines, are faring with regard to the campaign, Badayos-Jover said.

The focal persons and representatives will be given an opportunity to interact with Wilson.

OBR is the biggest mass action to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence) in human history.

Further, the GAD focal persons will perform the OBR dance while donning orange shirts to signify their support for the campaign to end violence against women. (JBG/CBA/PIA6)
