DOLE turns over P4 M fund for marginalized sectors in Sarangani

ALABEL, Sarangani--- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) aims to contribute to the reduction of poverty and the vulnerability to risks of the marginalized sectors of the society by providing them access to livelihood undertakings and opportunities.

Thus, the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) or KABUHAYAN Program per DOLE Department Order No. 173, series of 2017, is considered an important strategy towards the transition of the informal workers.

DOLE Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano turned over a cheque to Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon amounting to 4,150,388 pesos for livelihood assistance to 392 beneficiaries in Sarangani Province.

This was held at the Provincial Governor’s Office on February 27, with the special participation of Provincial Head of DOLE Domingo Baron and selected government officers who will take part in the monitoring.

According to the Provincial Administrator’s Office, the identified beneficiaries (Persons with Disability, drug surrenderees, former rebels, etc.) had already passed the minimum application and interview.

As to corresponding livelihood and starter kits, some will receive sari-sari store needs, carpentry tools, kakanin utensils, manicure sets, and other tools.

“Kani among mga intervention, among i-agi ug ACP or accredited co-partner, for the reason that it could facilitate ang pamalit sa atong mga goods. Kay atong i-provide sa atong ultimate beneficiaries kato man jud mga starter kits or himan para gamit sa ilang negosyo,” said Cano.

(These are our interventions, which will pass thru ACP for the reason that it could facilitate buying of goods since what we will provide to our ultiamte beneficiaries are really the starter kits they can use in business.)

“We are also happy na naging partner nato ang Sarangani LGU thru the office of Governor Solon para mas mapadali ang atong intervention sa atong mga stakeholders. We hope that this partnership will grow para daghan pag interventions atong mahatag sa probinsya,” he added.

Governor Solon and Director Cano signed the memorandum of agreement for the implementation of KABUHAYAN Program thru proponent accredited co-partner/proponent beneficiary.

Governor Solon highlighted during the meeting the monitoring down to implementation of the project because he wanted this to be successful.

“We need a lead to sustain. Dili na sayon (That isn’t easy),” he said to the monitoring personnel in assurance of the project. (Donna Mahusay/SARANGANI COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE)
