LPA to bring rains, thunderstorms to Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA -- The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) located 1,380 km. east of Mindanao is set to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to Palawan, the Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao on Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicted that the LPA would enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday and possibly develop into a typhoon on Tuesday.

However, the bureau said the possible typhoon is not expected to make landfall in any part of the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience hot and humid weather with possible isolated rains and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon until night time.

In Luzon, Tuguegarao City is predicted to experience the highest temperature at 36 degrees Celsius; with Laoag City at 33 degrees Celsius; Angeles City, Metro Manila and Lipa City, 34 degrees Celsius; the Bicol region, 31 degrees Celsius; Palawan, 32 degrees Celsius; and Baguio at the low-end with 25 degrees Celsius.

In the Visayas, Iloilo City may have its warmest day at 32 degrees Celsius; with Metro Cebu and Tacloban City at 31 degrees Celsius.

In Mindanao, temperature in Cagayan de Oro City is expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius; Valencia City, 29 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao and Zamboanga, 28 degrees Celsius.

Fisherfolk will have a safe day to fish in all parts of the country, where slight to moderate waves (0.6 to 2.1 meters) are expected.

Light to moderate winds will blow south to southwest in Luzon, and southwest to west in the Visayas and Mindanao. (PNA)
