Municipal festivals feature LDN's culture, heritage

LANAO DEL NORTE, Jul. 4 (PIA)--As part of Tourism Day, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte held the Showdown of Municipal Festivals featuring the best delicacies of the province's towns, July 2, at the Grandstand of Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex.

Department of Tourism (DOT)-10 Regional Director Marie Elaine S. Unchuan recognized the efforts of the  Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the leadership of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo in aiding in the promotion of the whole island of Mindanao as a prime tourist destination in the country.

"The island of Mindanao has so much to offer, not only the abundance of natural wonders but also rich with cultural heritage that is preserved by the indigenous people through time," Unchuan said.

In Lanao del Norte, the municipalities hold grandiose festivities such as the Hudyaka sa Lubi Festival of Linamon, Hugyaw sa Kadagatan Festival of Kauswagan, Sarimanok Festival of Kolambugan, Sagingan Festival of Tubod, Kalilang and Buntong Festival of Nunungan, Tulingan Festival of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Kahumayan Festival of Kapatagan, Lechon Festival of Baroy, Niyogan Festival of Magsaysay, and the Alimango Festival of Lala.

For this year, Kahumayan Festival of the Municipality of Kapatagan bagged the first place with P300,000 cash prize while Sultan Naga Dimaporo's Tulingan Festival and Sarimanok Festival of Kolambugan bagged the second and third place with P200,000 and P150,000 cash prize respectively.
