Go helps fire victims in Initao, MisOr

ILIGAN CITY, August 23 (PIA) - "If you are unable to uplift yourself in emergency situations and you need the government’s support, wherever you may be, I will go to you and help you," said Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go to the fire-affected families in the municipality of Initao, Misamis Oriental.

Humbly called and prefers to be addressed ‘Bong Go’, the Senator continues his mission in uplifting the lives of households being challenged by calamities through his personal effort in generously imparting assistance for the basic needs of the victims.

With the senator’s full-scale attention, government assistance to the fire victims was easily facilitated.

Quick response distribution of provisions of the local government unit (LGU) and other government offices like the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), the Department of Health (DOH), National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management office, and others were delineated.

Bong Go allotted food packs and cash assistance of Php 2,000.00 to each of the 22 families affected by the fire incident that razed morning of August 11, 2019.

DOH also gave hygiene kits and water jugs to the fire victims as additional assistance.

Initao Municipal Mayor Enerito V. Acain expressed his gratitude for the national government’s support.

Acain said, “Our municipality is small. Other than that, we are farfetched from the attention of the national government.”

"So, for a national figure to come over here and give an immediate response to our people, it says a lot of positive things about the kind of administration that we have now,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Bong Go came with two actors, Mr. Philip Salvador and Mr. Robin Padilla to entertain and a sort of relief to post-traumatic stress out of the fire-affected families.

Finally, the two actors and the senator himself serenaded the audience with Rey Valera’s classic entitled ‘Maging Sino Ka Man.’ (clviajante, PIA10)
