Gov. Solon: Sarangani’s momentum to speed up progress

ALABEL, Sarangani, Aug. 30 – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon projected the next three years would fuel Sarangani Province with the “super momentum” he kept pressing on with his Capitol department heads to fast track programs and projects.

“Infrastructure and environment” were among those that Solon identified as his top priorities which he also mentioned in his inaugural speech last June 28 saying, “with God’s help, three years is the exponentially increased momentum that will strengthen and enforce (our) environmental laws” and will double if not triple infrastructure in the upland areas of Sarangani.

These remarks have been reiterated by the governor during management committee meetings of Capitol department heads.

Solon said they prioritized major core roads as investments that would provide connectivity to potential areas for agricultural, tourism, fishery and trade expansion which are already incorporated in the development investment plan of Sarangani from 2016 to 2021.

This momentum, according to Solon who is serving his third term, can be attained thru “a force of unity, collaboration, innovation, selfless service, and true grit.”

“The power of unity,” he said, “allows (us) to effectively deliver government services and change the lives of the Sarangans” while stressing further his administration’s vision of a God-centered governance will allow the people to experience God-centered prosperity.

Engr. Gerald Faciol, acting Assistant Provincial Administrator for Operation, disclosed the administration of Solon is targeting 75% of the total 357 kilometers of provincial roads in Sarangani to be concreted by 2022.

As of third quarter this year, Faciol reported already 42% were concreted.

Solon also pointed out that Sarangani is also leading in environmental conservation and enforcement of environmental laws. Sarangani was the first province in the country to have accessed from the People’s Survival Fund in the amount of P93 million to fund for the impending P103 million rehab project of the 7.9-hectare Saub River Watershed Ecosystem in Maitum.

Meanwhile, the governor also noted other programs that Sarangani has been gaining recognition of are education, disaster preparedness, tourism and in peace and public safety programs like the anti-violent extremism campaign which, he said, has now been replicated in some parts of the Bangsa Moro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Solon also targets a bullish economy for Sarangani through investments, agriculture, and tourism while pushing for a strengthened implementation of programs on education, sports, and health programs. (Beverly C. Paoyon/SARANGANI COMMUNCIATIONS SERVICE)
