LPA spotted east of Northern Luzon

MANILA -- A low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring scattered light to moderate, to at times, heavy rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and northern Aurora on Saturday.

The LPA was estimated to be at 485 km. east of Aparri, Cagayan based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) report released at 10 a.m.

The weather advisory, however, said the LPA is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression (TD) in the next 48 hours but warned the public to take precautionary measures.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA will prevail over the Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, and Bicol regions, as well as Quezon province.

For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the trough of the LPA will cause the Caraga, Davao, and Soccsksargen regions to experience the same inclement weather.

The rest of the country will not be better off as PAGASA predicted partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms.

Winds in Luzon will be moderate to strong going southwest to west, causing moderate to rough coastal waters.

Other parts of the nation will have light to moderate winds in the southwest to west direction, which will bring slight to moderate coastal waters. (PNA)
