Palace declares 02 September a public holiday in Bukidnon

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon, August 30 (PIA) — Malacañang has declared September 2 of this year as a special non-working day in Bukidnon.

This is in commemoration of the province’s 105th founding anniversary.

Proclamation No. 799, signed last August 28 by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea, by authority of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, proclaimed Monday, 02 September 2019, in lieu of 01 September 2019 that falls on a Sunday, as a holiday in the entire province.

In a statement, Gov. Zubiri said that the scheduled civic parade and commemoration rites will still be on Sunday, September 1.

In the Proclamation, President Duterte said it is fitting and proper for the people of Bukidnon to be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

The raising of national flag, provincial flag, and the city/municipal flags by mayors and their spouses at the Centennial Stage, Provincial Capitol in Malaybalay City, will highlight the event.

To mark its importance, Governor Jose Maria R. Zubiri Jr. said “the most memorable part of this year’s commemoration is the giving of ‘Certificates of Land Ownership Award’ by DAR and the ‘Handog Titulo’ by the DENR to various land beneficiaries from different parts of Bukidnon.”

Participation of Bukidnon cultural groups whose ways have remained unchanged throughout times will also highlight the occasion.

Bukidnon has always been proud of its heritage, culture, and history since it was founded in 2014.

Act No. 2408, that took effect on September 1, 1914 created Bukidnon as a province. (RLRB/PIA 10 Bukidnon)
