TESDA grads return to train for income-generating projects

TUBIGON, Bohol, Oct. 11 (PIA) -- As the government allowed the use of its resources and funds under the Sariling Sikap program, it welcomes back its certified skills graduates to practice their entrepreneurial skills here.

One with the government in implementing programs to uplift the economic conditions of the communities, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through its Provincial Training Center here embraced anew its graduates who came back to train for a cause.

Graduates in Dressmaking and Tailoring NC II said that while they are thankful to the government for their skills training, they admit their next challenge is practicing their entrepreneurial skills.

The graduates then returned to their houses with the skills, but without the necessary equipment or funding capital, their newfound skills remain underutilized.

But with TESDA Circular 26 issued April 2018, in addendum to the implementing guidelines on the utilization of funds under the Sariling Sikap Program, the graduates found out that there is still something they would need to further use their skills.

On this, TESDA Provincial Training Center (PSTC) in Tubigon welcomed their graduates who already receied national certifications to practice for a cause.

Now back after completing their training but with the same goal to enhance their skills for gainful employment, the graduates gathered to earn a livelihood program from TESDA, according to Joahnna Zabate Mangyao of PSTC Tubigon.

Dressmaking and Tailoring NC II training area is still a learning ground for certified graduates to generate future income projects as an entry for Income Generating Program (IGP) under TESDA Circular No. 26, series of 2018.

"There is still a need to perfect their skills and attain personal marketable production confidence, and then there is the issue of using the right equipment, mentors and technologies, that going back to practice is a laudable step," said Mangyao.

Besides, the graduates already belong to the TESDA PTC Alumni graduates and they have annual reunions, anything they can craft from these return practices to be saved from the cost of these gatherings, she added.

The graduates who returned for a cause recycled fabrics and cloth scraps to be sold later, the proceeds of which will go to the alumni association. (TESDABohol/PIA-Bohol)
