Quake-damaged Ecoland 4000 not a DMCI project
MANILA -- DMCI Homes, the housing component of DMCI Holdings, Inc., on Thursday denied involvement in the construction of the earthquake-damaged Ecoland 4000 Residence in Davao City.
"We would like to inform everyone that Ecoland 4000 is not a project of DMCI Project Developers Inc. (DMCI Homes)," DMCI Homes said in a statement.
"The company was not involved in the development, design, and construction of the said project," it added.
A portion of the Ecoland 4000 condominium Hameji building was heavily damaged after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake rocked several parts of Mindanao on October 31 following an equally powerful tremor on October 29.
Local reports said the collapsed condominium building is owned by DMC Urban Property Developers Inc. (DMC-UPDI), a real estate development company.
DMCI Homes clarified that Verdon Parc is currently its only project in Davao City.
Following the initial safety assessment conducted by the local government and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Davao on establishments and structures after the magnitude 6.6 earthquake last Tuesday, DMCI Homes said it immediately conducted an inspection of its Verdon Parc project.
"Based on initial investigation conducted by DMCI Homes' Design and Engineering team and its structural engineering consultant Marco Consulting, the damages and cracks that manifested in the walls of Verdon Parc are considered non-structural in nature," it said.
"This signifies that the damages do not impose any negative effect on the structural integrity of the building and can be eventually rectified to preserve the structural soundness of the affected walls," it added.
It noted that the major structural component of the buildings such as beams, columns and slabs showed no serious damage caused by the earthquake. (PNA)
