PIA recognizes media partners in Romblon province

ODIONGAN, Romblon, Dec. 27 (PIA) -- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) - Romblon on Friday conducted a Media Engagement and Appreciation Day to recognize its media partner in the province for supporting the programs and activites of the agency for the year 2019.

This was held at Wavefront Beach Resort in Odiongan, Romblon.

During the activity, certificates of recognition and tokens were awarded to the attendees namely: Bill Gabay, Suico Romero, Tony Macalisang and Nicasio Fiedacan of Romblon Sun; Julius Llazer of Romblon Post; Emmanuel Eranes and Melchor Britanico of Radyo Natin-Odiongan; Bing Solis of Radyo Natin-Looc; and Joanne Amar, Intern of PIA-Romblon.

The same certificate of recognition was also given to Clinton Solidum of DTI-Negosyo Center Odiongan for allowing PIA-Romblon to use their conference area as the venue for the agency's monthly 'Kapihan sa PIA'.

Meanwhile, Romblon Sun Editor-In-Chief Suico Romero, currently the president of Romblon Media Association, thanked the agency for conducting this type of activity for the local media during his short message. He also gave an encouraging words to the attendees.

"Ipagpatuloy sana natin ang pagiging tulay ng ating mga platform sa pagbibigay ng tamang impormasyon sa publiko. Maging alerto tayong mga mamahayag lalo na ngayong nagkalat ang 'fake news' sa internet (May we continue to let our platform become a bridge in providing the right information to the public. Let us, journalists, be on alert especially this time that fake news is spreading on the internet.)" according to Romero.

After his speech, PIA media partners were given a chance to recommend ideas to improve the distribution of accurate information in the province.

PIA Media Engagement and Appreciation Day aims to continue to unite the association of journalists and the government thru PIA, especially in providing the accurate and relevant news and information for the public.
