COTABATO CITY, January 22, 2020 (PIA) – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government sent out help to affected individuals and families of the Taal Volcano eruption.

At least 1,500 relief packs each containing food items, medicines, hygiene kit, among others were sent yesterday, according to BARMM spokesperson and minister of local government Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo.

“Our relief team is expected to arrive in Manila by Friday to deliver our relief assistance to the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption in Luzon,” he said adding the team is on board three trucks loaded with relief goods.

Sinarimbo said, the staff from BARMM’s Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (BARMM-READI) is currently in contact with the coordinating centers in Batangas.

He added that a portion of the assistance will be delivered directly by their team to the Muslim constituents in the province of Batangas.

“Specific assistance from us will be sent to our affected Muslim constituents while a large part of the assistance would actually be delivered to the operation center in Batangas,” he said.

According to Sinarimbo, there are more than 130 Muslim families or 650 individuals affected by the volcanic eruption in Batangas.

Meanwhile, BARMM interim chief minister Ahod ‘Al Haj Murad’ Ebrahim emphasized that the willingness to help is in line with the principles of moral governance set by the Bangsamoro government.

“Our help does not only limit to our areas, but also for others who are in need of our help,” Ebrahim said.
