9 PROCOR couples say ‘I do’ in mass wedding

CAMP DANGWA, LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total of nine couples fro the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) exchanged marital vows on Friday at the Saint Paul Church here.

The ceremony is an annual activity of the PROCOR to legitimize the status of policemen with their partners.

“The purpose of this is to show police officers are not all work but are also looking at their spiritual and marriage dimension,” Maj. Carolina Lacuata, PROCOR information officer told Philippine News Agency (PNA).

She said the wedding ceremonies for policemen is a good practice of the Philippine National Police (PNP) organization to establish a healthy family life.

“We believe that when a policeman is healthy and has a good family, he will also be providing a good service for the public,” Lacuata said.

Lacuata said PROCOR last held the mass wedding for policemen in December last year

Regional Chaplain Rev. Fr. Joselito Borja officiated the mass wedding ceremony at the camp’s Catholic church.

Lacuata said the Police Community Relations (PCR) branch took care of the processing of the documentary requirements of the couples prior to the ceremony.

"As part of the internal cleansing effort of the organization, policemen cannot be infidel to their spouses. They have to stick to their spouses and not be involved with any other," Lacuata said.

The PNP has discovered that several policemen maintain two or more families, prompting them to go into illegal activities due to the high demand for finances to sustain the needs of the families.

Under the recent administrations of the PNP, the Patrol Plan 2030, focusing on improving the organization in terms of the logistics and manpower was put in place, ridding the organization of scalawags. (With a report from Corwin Lucas Golonan, OJT/PNA)
