Camiguin police maintains low crime volume, upholds 'no take' policy

CAMIGUIN, Feb. 18 (PIA)--Recording only 2 non-index crimes and 13 crime incidents where 10 of such crime incidents are already cleared, 9 were solved, and 3 crimes are currently under investigation for January to February 14, 2020, the Camiguin Police Provincial Office (CPPO) maintains peace and order here as well as it upholds the No Take Policy to act on all forms of illegal gambling and any other illegal activities.

Fully supporting the directive of Gen. Archie Francisco F. Gamboa on No Take Policy, CPPO Provincial Director PCol Rolando B. Cuya Jr. said in a press conference, February 15, “Ang kapulisan po ng Camiguin ay hindi po tumatanggap ng anuman, maging ito man ay regalo or pera mula sa mga taong gumagawa ng hindi maganda lalo na sa mga illegal activities (The Camiguin police do not accept anything, whether it is a gift or money from people who do illegal activities)."


Cuya urges the public to report directly or contact their police hotlines if illegal activities such as illegal gambling, participation in illegal numbers game especially 'swertres,' cockfight, or even using/possession of illegal drugs have been observed. When someone is proven to be doing an illegal activity, he or she will be immediately arrested and sued. 


As to peace and order, Cuya said, “Ang Camiguin po ay insurgency-free. Wala po tayong mga members ng armed groups, criminal groups, especially yung mga New People’s Army (NPA). Pagdating naman po sa sitwasyon sa droga, tayo po ay malapit nang maging drug-free province. Hinihintay nalang po nating ang pagtatapos ng ating drug reformists na kasalukuyang nag-a-undergo ng rehabilitation."


(Camiguin is insurgency-free. We have no members of the armed or criminal groups, especially the New People's Army (NPA). When it comes to drug dealing, we are about to become a drug-free province. We also look forward to our drug reformists' completion who are currently undergoing rehabilitation)


With Camiguin as one of the top tourist destinations, Cuya said they will continue to provide the services everyone deserves to maintain the peace and order in the area and further aid in its development.


Among the PNP chiefs who were present in the press conference include PMaj. Dennis G. De Los Santos, PMFP Platoon Leader; PLt Col Dante B. Incason, DPDA; PCPT Richard M. Reteracion, Sagay COP; PCPT Arnold T. Gaabucayan, Mambajao COP; PLT Andreh Marizze A. Empeynado, Guinsiliban COP; and PMaj Romel L. Cena, Mahinog COP; who all declared to support the No Take Policy and will not tolerate their personnel who will be involved in illegal activities. (Marc Ian A. Salem/PIA10)
