OCD7 calls for entries for 22nd Gawad KALASAG awards

CEBU, Feb. 27 (PIA) -- The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Central Visayas is calling for entries to the regional selection of the 22nd Gawad KALASAG (GK) “Search for Excellence in DRRM and Humanitarian Assistance.” 

Gawad KALASAG or Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan is the country’s annual search to recognize exemplary contributions to disaster risk reduction and management.

Eligible to apply are members agencies of Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (RDRRMC), local government units (LGUs), sectoral groups, volunteer organizations, schools, hospitals, and individuals who have shown extraordinary efforts towards disaster and risk resilience. 

Applicants from both the regional and national levels shall undergo a desk evaluation and field validation. 

The winning entry per category will be endorsed by the Regional Selection Committee (RSC) to the National Gawad KALASAG Committee (NGKC) through the GK Secretariat. 

Applicants must submit the required documents with the maximum number of pages per entry at only 300 pages including the annexes and attachments. 

They are also expected to follow the standard format for the submission. 

OCD-7 urges applicants to strictly adhere to the provided checklists and guidelines., otherwise, deliberate non-compliance of the requirements will merit disqualification. 

Deadline for submission of entries is on March 31, 2020. 

In Region 7, the Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has been recognized for its top disaster mechanisms for three consecutive years. (poc/PIA7)
