PACC enjoins CAR executives to support ‘Katarungan’ Desk
BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 28 (PIA) - - The Presidential Anti – Corruption Commission calls for a united front in boosting the anti – corruption campaign of the national government through the setting up of “Katarungan” Desk in all government offices and public places in the region.
Commissioner Greco Belgica, in a meeting with regional line agency heads in the Cordillera Administrative Region at Newtown Plaza Hotel here Thursday, said the Katarungan Desk is a one – stop shop for public for complaints on corruption or against abusive government officials.
Government agencies and local government units need to put up a table or desk bearing the PACC-designed poster to serve as Katarungan Desk. There will be “dulugan” forms where people can write their complaints and a drop box to put the accomplished form. A personnel will be assigned to man the desk.
The forms will be collected by PACC and any report from the Katarungan Desk will be will be treated with confidentiality, properly validated without bias and with honest and evidence - based investigation, Belgica said.
This will also be a government’s way to justify or bring truth to any false report that aims to malign any person in the bureaucracy, he added.
In addition to the Katarungan Desk, Belgica said PACC will also come up with a cellular phone application or “Apps” for the public. Along with the “8888” complain hotline of Malacañang, it will strengthen the government’s anti – corruption campaign.
Belgica called on the Cordillera regional executives to work on the Katarungan Desks and set a date for regional launching which he will personally attend.
"Together as one government, let us launch a strong anti - corruption campaign under the leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Let us send a strong message to the people that we are serious in the fight against corruption," Belgica enjoined.
Cordillera Association of Regional Executives (CARE) President and Office of Civil Defense Regional Director Albert Mogol assured the association's full support to the national government's thrust of good governance, transparency and eradication of corruption in the bureaucracy.
Belgica also met with Benguet provincial and municipal local chief executives to promote the anti – corruption campaign of the government. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
