Antiqueños avail government assistance amid COVID-19

SAN JOSE, Antique, April 29 (PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has provided help to Antiqueños who are affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

DOLE- Antique Provincial Head Melisa Navarra said that the latest release of financial assistance in the province here amounted to P3,475,000 covering 695 workers under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).

Navarra said that as of April 15, there are 423 Antiqueños who will also be benefiting from the agency’s TUPAD #Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko (TUPAD#BKBK) disinfection/sanitation project.

She added that the towns of Tibiao, Caluya, Pandan, Hamtic, San Remigio and Anini-y are starting to implement the TUPAD #BKBK program.

The project aims to support displaced workers in the informal sector as well as contributes to poverty reduction and inclusive growth by providing temporary wage employment for displaced workers, underemployed and self-employed workers.

On the other hand, farmers here will also be aided by the Department of Agriculture.

Provincial Agriculturist Nick Calawag, in an interview, said that Antique has a total target beneficiary of 23,600 farmers to avail of Financial Subsidy for Rice Farmers as long as the target families did not receive the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) assistance either from Department of Social Welfare and Development or DOLE.

Aside from the above mentioned assistance, the Provincial Government of Antique and the Office of Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative Loren Legarda have also distributed millions-worth of food packs or relief goods, rice, locally produced veggies and root crops, among others, to help Antiqueño families cope with ECQ due to COVID-19.
