Davao Region to receive 15,000 PPE delivery on May 9

DAVAO CITY, May 7 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI confirmed that a delivery of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) from Manila will arrive and to be allocated for Davao Region.

In the One Davao on COVID19 Virtual Presser held Tuesday (May 5), DOH XI Assistant Regional Director Lenny Joy Rivera announced that of the 200,000 PPE sets arriving this week intended for the entire Mindanao, Davao Region gets a 15,000 PPE sets to be distributed in COVID facilities.

She said hospitals requested for a certain number of PPEs and so the listing of recipients will be based on the requirements asked by these hospitals catering to COVID patients.

“The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) will receive 6,000 PPE sets while there are also hospitals in Davao City which will also receive PPEs. All provinces in Davao Region are also recipients,” Dr. Rivera said.

In charge to oversee the logistics needed in every region is the Office of Civil Defense (OCD). The DOH XI was only given the list as to which facilities have been allocated with the said logistics arriving in Davao City thru a navy ship that will dock at the Sasa Port.

Meanwhile, the SPMC was happy to learn about the arrival of PPEs within the week.

“Our PPE supplies are okay so far. We also were informed that a batch of PPEs from the USAID will be donated soon. If we expect these deliveries then we can say that our PPE supply is good for a month or so,” said SPMC’s Training Chief Dr. Maria Elinore Concha.  (PIA XI/Frances Mae Macapagat)
