PRO2 intensifies anti-illegal drugs operations

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, May 23 (PIA) - - -The Police Regional Office here has intensified its anti-illegal drugs operations amid COVID-19 scare.

In its latest police report, two drug personalities were arrested while another drug pusher died in separate drug buy-bust operations in Cagayan Valley on May 21.

Joint personnel of PIU/PDEU-CPPO, Aparri PS and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) RO2 Batanes PO arrested Kelvin Alonzo, 32, single, laborer and a resident of Brgy. Centro 2, Aparri, Cagayan in a buy-bust operation.

Suspect Alonzo was caught in the act of selling one piece heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu in exchange of one piece genuine Php500 bill.

Alonzo is listed as HVI Regional Priority under "COPLAN JOVENAL" for violation of Sec. 5 of RA 9165.

In Cabatuan, Isabela on same date, joint personnel from PDEA and Cabatuan PS conducted an anti-illegal drug buy bust operation that resulted in the arrest of Kelvin Molina, 29, married, tricycle driver and a resident of Africano Street, District 2, Cauayan City.

Confiscated from suspect Molina were Php500.00 (buy-bust money) and one piece heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

In Cauayan City, personnel of Cauayan CPS in coordination with PDEA RO2 conducted anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation against Michael Talal, 39, married and a resident of Brgy. Guayabal.

In the police report, the police officer who acted as poseur buyer was able to buy two pieces heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu from the suspect.

However, the police report says that suspect Talal sensed that the person he transacted with is a police officer. The suspect got the firearm tucked from his waist and fired towards the police officer prompting the said officer to retaliate and fired hitting the suspect.

Members of Rescue 922 immediately responded and suspect Talal was declared dead. 

Cases for violation of RA 9165 are now being prepared for filing against Alonzo and Molina. (MDCT with reports from PRO-2/PIA-2)
