Siquijor opens borders for residents stranded in other areas
CEBU CITY, May 22 (PIA) -- Siquijodnons who are stranded in other areas are now allowed to go back to Siquijor after the province was placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
During the Laging Handa Network Briefing with Sec. Martin Andanar, Siquijor Gov. Zaldy Villa shared that as Siquijor transitions to MGCQ, protocols have been put in place to monitor the arrival and exit of locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
“We will have to prioritize the entry of the ones from Dumaguete, 50 persons starting on Monday. We will slowly allow the entry of those stranded from other provinces,” said Villa.
He also emphasized that physical distancing and wearing of face masks will be observed.
The provincial government of Siquijor has also issued Executive Order (EO) No. 024-A which specifies the requirements and guidelines for the gradual entry of stranded Siquijodnons and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as well as the exit of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and persons with medical emergencies.
Under Section 4 of the said EO, the gradual entry of stranded Siquijodnons and OFWs will be done by batch as scheduled by the Siquijor nCOV Task Force.
The first group or the “test batch” will be the discharged patients and their watchers.
Only those stranded individuals coming from Negros Oriental, Bohol, and other low-risk provinces in Mindanao are allowed re-entry.
For discharged stranded patients, they will have to present their hospital medical certificate, certificate of good health or fit to travel, barangay certification, and re-entry clearance issued by the Siquijor Province Task Force COVID-19.
Meanwhile, LSIs are required to present a certificate of good health or fit to travel, barangay certification, letter of acceptance from the receiving local government units (LGUs), and re-entry clearance from Siquijor Province Task Force COVID-19.
Both discharged patients and LSIs will have to present their valid identity cards upon entry in the port.
They will also have to read and sign the affidavit of undertaking.
All individuals arriving in Siquijor province will undergo Rapid Diagnostic Test and will be subjected to a 14-day mandatory quarantine at the designated quarantine facilities.
Siquijor remains to be COVID-free as there have been no positive cases reported in the province.
However, as part of the provincial government’s efforts to protect Siquijodnons, health and monitoring protocols continue to be implemented as the province transitions to MGCQ. (poc/PIA7)
