Taguig establishes 'Safe Zone' for city residents

PARANAQUE CITY, May 21 (PIA) -- Taguig City government has established “safe spaces” where all residents, including those in the vulnerable sectors are allowed to go while the city is under modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

According Mayor Lino Cayetano the project was designed to allow  balance between people’s need for a sense of normalcy and the health and safety guidelines set by the Department of Health (DOH) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We designed this policy to strike a balance between people’s need for a sense of normalcy and the health and safety policies to avert COVID-19 infections, including protocols on social distancing and wearing of face masks,” Cayetano, in a statement said.

Community spaces applying to be a “safe zone” must to undergo on-site inspection including and clearance by the Safe City Task Force. Applications can be made through taguiginfo.com/safe-city.

Safe zones are allowed to open from 5 am to 8 pm and must ensure that residents always observe social distancing protocols; wear face masks; eating, loitering or any social gatherings are not allowed at the zones.

Outdoor exercises are allowed provided social distancing is observed, however, group exercises and workout sessions are strictly not allowed.
