TESDA-7 turns over PPEs to VSMMC frontliners
CEBU CITY, May 12 (PIA) --- The Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA) 7 turned over 920 personal protective equipment (PPE) for the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) frontliners.
Dr. Gerardo Aquino, medical chief of VSMMC, thanked TESDA-7 for accepting their request to produce the PPEs for their frontliners amidst the COVID-19 pandemic due to the increasing number of positive cases in Cebu.
Aquino said that on March 30, he sought the assistance of TESDA-7 for mass production of PPEs intended for frontliners of their hospital.
They provided the raw materials while TESDA-7 provided the manpower and labor.
TESDA-7 started the mass production of PPEs on April 13 and turned over the first batch of 180 PPEs on April 21, then 303 PPEs on April 22, 110 on May 8, and 920 on May 11.
To date, TESDA-7 officially turned over a total of 1,513 PPEs to VSMMC.
Aside from PPEs, TESDA-7 also produced 18,012 face masks which were distributed to frontliners regionwide.
TESDA-7 Regional Director Andrew Bitog said that despite their limited number of sewers and different production centers located in Carmen, Minglanilla, Daanbantayan, and Toledo City due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), their aim is to help through their ongoing production of PPEs for VSMMC.
TESDA-7 is also tapping Sisters of Mary Technical Education Institute in Minglanilla to assist the production and packing of PPEs since their students are in-house as the school accommodated their education and training in Tailoring with NC II registered.
Aquino said the PPEs are washable and it will be used by the personnel assigned at the wards.(hfg/PIA7)
