2 drug suspects killed in NoCot shootout

COTABATO CITY – Two drug suspects were killed in a shootout with law enforcers in Pikit, North Cotabato on Thursday.

Capt. Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit town police chief, said the police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12, and Philippine Army troops were about to serve a search warrant against drug suspect Mutalib Bulod at his home in Barangay Manaulanan before dawn when a shootout transpired.

“Mutalib and his buddy, Asty Guiamalon Bulod, fired at the approaching lawmen, triggering a firefight that ended with the suspects’ death,” Pangandigan said over a local radio station Friday.

He noted that the raiding team was armed with a search warrant for illegal drug pushing issued by Judge Lily Lydia Laquindanum of Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Midsayap, Cotabato against Mutalib.

Anti-narcotics agents have seized 40 sachets of shabu, shabu paraphernalia, an M-16 rifle, two grenade launchers, a shotgun, and two fragmentation grenades from Mutalib’s house. (PNA)
