Defense chief cites role of uniformed personnel in giving relief amid pandemic

PASIG CITY, July 23 (PIA) -- Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Wednesday cited the role of men and women in uniform in delivering services to the public amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the Pre-SONA Forum of the Security, Justice and Peace Cluster on Wednesday, Lorenzana cited the concerted efforts of the cluster in this time of public health emergency.

Ang Philippine Air Force at Philippine Navy ay nagamit sa paghakot ng mga medical supplies mula sa ibang bansa,” he pointed out.

He added that military assets were utilized to help Overseas Filipinos (OFs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and even provided transport assistance to Metro Manila commuters.

The defense chief also reported that as of July 18, over 92,000 overseas Filipinos were safely sent home to their provinces.

He also expressed his gratitude to the soldiers, police personnel, military doctors and nurses who relentlessly provide service to the public in this time of public health emergency.

(PIA-NCR)
