Malabon sets aside P200M for COVID vaccine
CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 13 (PIA) -- Malabon City Mayor Len Oreta said around 90,000 of the 366,000 total population of the city will automatically be inoculated as soon as the COVID vaccine arrives, following the local government's allocation of P200 million to finance the move.
Mayor Oreta said to cover at least 20 to 30 percent of the city’s population, the city government has initially allotted funds amounting to P150 million and earmarked an additional P50 million for the vaccine purchase.
“Around 90,000 of the 366,000 total population of the city will automatically be inoculated as soon as the vaccine arrives,” Oreta said.
The mayor said medical front liners, city residents working outside the city, the elderly, and students who are deemed susceptible to contract the disease will be prioritized once the vaccination rolls out.
Oreta, however, vowed to persistently seek resources so that all Malabonians may freely avail of the immunization dose against the dreaded disease.
Oreta said Malabon City, through its City Health Department, is already talking with the Department of Health (DoH) to iron out the implementation of vaccination, from purchase proceedings, delivery, and safe-handling of the Covid-19 serums, to the actual administration of the injection.
“Our city doctors are ready to carry out the clinical task, in accordance with guidelines and directives of the DoH and other concerned national agencies,” he said.
“We are committed to fully protect our constituents from further virus contractions thru this vaccination along with the national government,” he added. (PIA NCR)
