DILG, DOH equip nat’l agencies, LGUs on COVID-19 handling

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb. 24 (PIA)--To provide guidance and appropriate information to all local government units (LGUs) and government offices in the region, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 in partnership with Department of Health (DOH)-10 discussed protocols in handling COVID-19 outbreak in their respective offices.

“Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we in the government agencies and LGUs, including the uniformed personnel, have to continue delivering public service. However, given the risks posed by the virus, there is a need for us to come up with protocols. And if, God forbids, there will be cases in your offices then we already know what to do to minimize infection of other personnel,” said DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, head of Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (RIATF-MEID)-10.

On the specifics of COVID-19 response in the office, Dr. Ian Christian Gonzales, head of the Infectious Diseases Cluster of DOH-10, discussed the Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat, and Reintegrate (PDITR) strategies.

Part of the advocacy of the DILG and DOH is BIDA ang may Disiplina: Solusyon sa COVID-19, encouraging the public to practice self-discipline to mitigate the spread of the virus in the communities.

BIDA stands for B–Bawal ang walang face mask/shield, I–I-sanitize ang mga kamay, D–distansya ng isang metro sa isa’t isa, and A–Aksyon base sa tamang impormasyon.

Agabe encouraged the participants to instill discipline among themselves as he reminds them that “protecting yourself means protecting your family, colleagues, and community.”

The forum was participated by representatives from the region’s government agencies and local health officers. The activity was conducted via virtual teleconference, February 22 and live streamed on DILG-10’s Facebook page. (DILG10/PIA10)
