DPWH completes additional BatMC COVID-19 facilities

CALAMBA CITY, Apr. 26 (PIA) - Patients from Batangas and its nearby provinces will soon receive better healthcare services amid the pandemic after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of the additional COVID-19 treatment facilities at the Batangas Medical Center (BatMC) in Batangas City.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the off site buildings completed by the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local / National Health Facilities and Batangas District 2 Engineering Office are now being prepared for operation to augment the health services being provided in Batangas and its neighboring provinces.

The completed three (3) cluster facilities includes a 10-room Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which includes a closed-circuit television (cctv) to be used for monitoring for moderate to severe Covid patients and one (1) unit with 21 rooms for isolation and monitoring of mild symptoms cases.

“The facility also included a makeshift dormitory with 22 rooms dedicated to accommodate 44 healthcare professionals who will be attending to patients in the facility.” Villar said, adding that the facility will be opened this May after civil works and installation of medical equipment are completed to  accommodate the surge in cases including spillover patients from Metro Manila and the Southern Tagalog.

“Napakaimportante na lahat ng sangay ng gobyerno ay nagtutulungan upang magkaroon ng iisang layunin tungo sa pagbabago at pagbibigay ng maginhawa at mabuting serbisyo. A harmonized, interoperable, and interconnected government can increase the quality and efficient delivery of frontline services which will greatly benefit the public,” DOH-CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo Janairo said, expressing his gratitude to Secretary Villar for his continuous support in improving health facilities in the region.

The DOH said the facility located in the 3,678 square meter rotonda in BatMC will be opened this May.  (PB/DOH 4-A)
