Suspects nabbed, ‘shabu’ seized in northern Negros sweep

BACOLOD CITY -- Eight suspects were arrested while PHP648,000 worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) were seized in separate operations in the northern cities of San Carlos and Silay in Negros Occidental on Friday night.

In San Carlos, Vincent Emmanuel Bacurnay, 31, was collared in a buy-bust, where he sold a sachet of the prohibited substance to an agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), who posed as a buyer.

The joint operation conducted by the San Carlos City Police Station and PDEA-Western Visayas around 6:20 p.m. at Ylagan Extension, Barangay 6 also led to the confiscation of 14 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP168,000.

Six others present during the raid were also arrested. They were identified as Joselito Lumbrion, 42; Rodolfo Mansueto Jr., 35; Romeo Barba, 43; Romel Mangasang, 49; Arthur Lorezo, 41; and Bryan Bocateja, 34.

All seven suspects are on the list of drug personalities of the San Carlos Police.

In Silay, Paul Dyson Conlu, 22, was arrested in a buy-bust around 9:20 p.m. in Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay 2 conducted by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit with the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

The suspect, included on the target drug list of the Silay City Police Station, yielded 11 sachets of the prohibited substance valued at PHP480,000.

Before that, he sold PHP11,000 worth of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

Operatives also seized drug paraphernalia such as improvised tooter, disposable lighters, scissors and weighing scale from the suspect.

The stash from Conlu is the latest in a series of operations conducted by the Silay City Police in the past two weeks.
Since September 17, about PHP1.120 million in suspected shabu were seized by the police in four separate operations. (PNA)
