Davao PUJ driver tests positive of drug use in PDEA 'Undaspot

DAVAO CITY – A jeepney driver has tested positive in the random drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)  in its “Oplan Undaspot” on Wednesday at the Davao City Recreation Center.

The driver, whose name is withheld pending confirmatory test, was one of the 60 public utility vehicle drivers who submitted for the random drug test on Wednesday's operation.

PDEA-11 Director Antonio Rivera said Undaspot started on Tuesday with 35 bus drivers, 42 PUV van drivers and 15 conductors.

Rivera said the operation aims to ensure public safety for travelers during the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. Those who will test positive will not be allowed to travel.

If found positive in the confirmatory test, the PDEA-11 chief said drivers will be recommended to undergo rehabilitation.

Undaspot was conducted by PDEA in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

During Wednesday's AFP-PNP press corps briefing, Rivera said Undaspot also seeks to prevent illegal drug traffickers in taking advantage of the influx of people and busy operations in the terminals to transport illegal drugs. (Lilian C Mellejor/PNA)
