Batangas-EAC, Metropac-San Beda score routs in D-League

MANILA -- Batangas-EAC and Metropac-San Beda repulsed their respective foes in blowout fashion in the PBA D-League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Thursday.

Batangas-EAC took out weary McDavid, 79-57, while Metropac-San Beda blasted Wang's, 94-70.

In the first game, Batangas-EAC started on a 12-0 run and quickly deposed McDavid, whose core made up of players of Bulacan in the MPBL Datu Cup is just fresh from beating Marikina in Malolos City on Wednesday night.

"Maybe we're just lucky that McDavid didn't play well. But I'm happy for the guys," said Coach Oliver Bunyi.

Earvin Mendoza dropped 25 points, three assists, and two rebounds for the Generals, who scored their first win of the season.

Clark Derige added 16 points and four rebounds, while Allan Martin chipped 11 points, four dimes, and three boards.

Rev Diputado put up 16 markers and five caroms for McDavid, which fell to 0-2.

Meanwhile, Calvin Oftana put up 17 points and seven boards to lead the Movers, but it was last NCAA season's rookies Evan Nelle and James Canlas who got the applause from Coach Boyet Fernandez.

"I'm happy with the way they're stepping up," said Fernandez.

Nelle finished with 11 points, seven assists, and six boards, while Canlas contributed 10 markers, six caroms, and four dimes putting Metropac-San Beda now at 2-0.

Axel Inigo scored 21 points, four rebounds, four dimes, and two steals for the Couriers, who dropped to 1-1.

In the other game of the triple-header, Che'Lu edged Petron-Letran, 96-94, in a battle of debuting squads.

Sean Manganti prevailed over Alvin Pasaol in the scoring battle between Bataan Risers of the Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3x3, but it was Jeff Viernes who completed the job as he fired eight of his 17 markers in the final frame to lift the Revelers to the close win.

"In this kind of games, win or lose, I have to go back to the veterans," said coach Stevenson Tiu.

Manganti led Che'Lu with 24 points and nine rebounds.

Pasaol put up 33 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in a losing effort for the Knights. (PNA)
